Hi all, happy Friday! Please review the following information about our week(s) ahead and let us know if you have any questions!
Progress reports will be sent home digitally sometime next week. As a reminder, any test or assignment with a grade below a 70 can be corrected for up to a 70. The last day of the first grading period is October 19. Parent teacher conferences with your child’s homeroom teacher are coming up on Monday, October 8. Sign-up links will be added to our 5th grade website next Friday, and included in next week’s blog post. On Thursday, Sept. 27 from 9:30 - 11:00 AM, 5th grade will walk to Anderson HS and attend a meet-and-greet with Astronaut Gregory Houston. It should be a great event! Volunteer for Hill’s Green Team by signing up here. DilloQuest, our annual 5th grade overnight class trip, is coming up next month -- October 18-19 (a Thursday and Friday). The cost will be $85 payable via school cash online. We will also accept cash or check but online payments are preferred. More information will be sent home in next week's Wednesdays Folders including release and medical forms that need to be returned by October 17. Please contact Jaye Burke Bunde ([email protected]) in the front office if you require financial assistance. Students are practicing their science vocabulary with their science vocabulary flip books in their notebooks, and on quizlet.com. Students have already made an account and can access quizlet from home, and they should be reviewing their vocabulary each week. There will be regular quick quizzes on BLEND to assess their retention of the new terms. If for some reason they can’t remember their login info, they can click here. Starting today and running through October 20, 5th Grade is hosting a Diaper Drive for the Austin Diaper Bank (see attachment). It’s estimated that 1 in 4 families in Central Texas leaves their babies in wet diapers or goes without on a weekly basis. Please consider donating the following items in the 5th Grade Commons: Diapers Size Newborn thru Size 6, Pull-Ups, Diaper Cream, Wipes and Adult Diapers. For more information or to volunteer with the Austin Diaper Bank, please visit their website. Thanks for reading, and have a great weekend! ~5th Grade Team
