LIBRARY BOOKS ARE PAST DUE! Please turn in all books ASAP and/or pay any applicable fees. Ms. Pustka and Ms. Banda have to account for 30,000 books, it’s quite an ordeal. Thanks!
Please read this attachment for all you need to know about end-of-year 5th grade celebrations. Many thanks to our parent volunteers for taking on all of the planning and prep! Classes will run as normal next week! Backpacks and writing utensils will be required every day. Even though the last day is all celebration, your child may have things they need to bring home, so please bring a backpack! Time to check the Lost & Found in the Commons and the in the main building! All items not picked up by next Friday will be donated. Please have your kiddo return ALL borrowed classroom books to Mr. Wilder or Ms. Briles by Tuesday of next week. All books may still be read during class hours, of course. Please remind your kiddo that gum is not allowed in 5th grade or AISD unless they have been given special permission from the teacher they are with. The computer cords in Ms. Briles’ room were all stuck to a gob of chewed gum the other day. GROSS! We have LOVED teaching your awesome kiddos! They are amazing, creative, funny, quirky, and a great mix of strong and sweet. We will never forget their amazing personalities. Thank you for sharing them with us. Thanks for reading, and have a great weekend! ~5th Grade Team

Science STAAR testing is happening next Wednesday, May 15. Please make sure your child arrives to school on time, with a water bottle, book, and healthy snack. We plan to test from 8:00am - noon. Please read this attachment for all you need to know about end-of-year 5th grade celebrations. Many thanks to our parent volunteers for taking on all of the planning and prep! Grades are officially due on Monday, May 20, so please make sure your child is submitting all corrections/missing work ASAP! 5th Grade is walking to Wally’s on Friday, May 17 (slight date change for the B-M-W trio). We’re scheduled to walk over and back in staggered groups, starting around 1:05pm and ending around 2:55pm. If you foresee your child having mobility issues getting to Wally’s, please be available to give your child a ride if possible. We can work with the office in extenuating circumstances. The cost of the Wally’s trip was built into your 5th grade fees (about $3 per kid), so your child does NOT need to bring money (we pay with one big check). Wally’s was generous and is giving us a discount. Murchison Modernization Project (message from Mrs. Newton): We would like to invite all incoming 6th grade parents to a presentation to learn more about the upcoming Modernization Construction Project at Murchison Middle School on Monday, May 6 at 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. in the Murchison Cafeteria. Representatives from Stantec Architectural Firm, as well as Bartlett Cocke Construction Company will be present to share 2019-2020 Construction plans with our community. Members of our Campus Architectural Team will also be present. We hope to see you at this very important meeting! Parents: We need your help! As part of the end-of-year celebration, 5th graders will be guessing which baby photo belongs to which current 5th grader. Please send in a 4"x6" baby photo of your child with your child's name and their homeroom teacher's name written on the back. This photo will not be returned, so please send a copy, not the original. Photos should be turned in by next Friday, May 10. This year the 5th grade Pool Party will be on Thursday, May 23 from 5:30-8:30pm at the Westover Hills Club - 8706 Westover Club Dr. All 5th graders are invited to attend. Z Tejas, of the Arboretum, will be donating burgers and hot dogs for the kids. How nice is that? Our very own, Rising Ivy, will be performing a few songs too. It will be a fun night for the kids. This is a drop off party for Hill 5th grade students only due to number restrictions at Westover. There will be lifeguards and parent volunteers monitoring the party. Be sure to send your child with a labeled towel. Thanks for reading, and have a great weekend! ~5th Grade Team |
