Your essay will be something like: Why is Kealing the best place for you to achieve your personal and academic goals? Remember: everything you write will PROVE you belong at their school. SELL YOURSELF. Don't write "I think I belong at Kealing," write "I belong at Kealing because___." Also, don't feel bad about bragging about yourself. BRAG about yourself. You have permission to do that here and SHOULD. Possible Outline for Kealing: 1. Introduction Paragraph
2. Personal Goals Paragraph
3. Academic Goals Paragraph
4. Conlcluding Sentences
Dear parents,
Your Murchison choice sheet is coming home today--be on the lookout! It is printed on pink cardstock and has recommendations from your child's teachers regarding what we think would be the best placement for academic classes. MMS asks that every student completes a choice sheet, even if you are not sure if your child is heading to Murchison next year. A few important points/reminders:
Happy course selecting! Remember that while the middle school transition can be stressful (on kids and parents!) these decisions are little pebbles in the big life picture. (Keep in mind, I'm STILL trying to teach myself this lesson about all transitions! 😊) Lorrie Hi everyone, please read the following information regarding middle school course sheets:
***EVERY 5th grade student is required to complete a Murchison course selection sheet, even if your child won't be attending Murchison (district policy). ***Course sheets are going home THIS WEDNESDAY (Feb. 6), and are DUE back at Hill on February 12. ***Please direct ALL questions, comments, and concerns to the MMS 6th grade counselor, [email protected]. Your child attended a Murchison Choice Sheet info. session this morning in the Hill Library (this was the first time teachers heard the information as well). The MMS 6th grade counselor and assistant principal gave an overview of the choice sheet process, and answered some student questions. We understand that this can be a confusing and stressful process. As 5th grade teachers, our job is to make a "level" suggestion for each of your child's core academic subjects (math, science, social studies, science) by initialing next to the level we think is most appropriate. Choice sheets will go home in Wednesday folders this week, and your job is to fill in the rest, and likewise initial next to the level you think is most appropriate for each core academic subject. Ultimately, parents have final say in what "level" of core classes your child takes, so if you don't agree with us on what we suggest for your child, know that your selection "overrides" ours. Please reference the following resources on the Middle School Info. tab of our website:
Again, please contact MMS 6th grade counselor Kady Maxwell ([email protected]) with ALL questions, comments and concerns. Sincerely, 5th Grade Team
