Happy Friday! It's looking like we'll have good weather for Dillo Quest next week. Be sure to read through the reminders below, and check out the Downloads tab for more Dillo Quest info and resources.
We’ve added a Middle School Info! tab to our 5th grade website. We’ll update it as information comes in, and link to any changes in our weekly update. Check it out, there’s already a lot of information added! Report cards went home in Wednesday folders this week. Please return signed, empty envelopes to your child’s homeroom teacher. We only have enough for one per student, per year! Dillo Quest has be rescheduled for NEXT Thursday and Friday, November 1-2. Nothing has changed other than the date, and hopefully a better weather forecast. Check out the downloads tab of the 5th grade website for extra forms, packing lists, etc. We need all forms and the $85 payment submitted ASAP! Contact [email protected] if you need financial assistance. Please read the following information carefully:
5th grade is going to Inner Space Caverns in early November (Briles-Mayer-Wirht 11/6, Cotten-Wilder-Salome 11/7). Buses will leave Hill around 9am and return around 1pm. Parents are welcome to meet us there. Classes will walk nearly one mile underground on a guided tour. We will be eating at the caverns, so be sure to pack a lunch and water bottle for your child. (The only other field trip scheduled at this point is the Bob Bullock museum on April 23.) The 5th grade fundraiser is under way! Please click here to read all about it. Thanks for reading, and have a great weekend! ~5th Grade Team

Hello Fifth Grade Parents,
Just want to update you all on the 5th Grade Fundraiser project! As you may know by now the 5th grade students are selling 20 oz. stainless steel tumblers to raise money for their end of year festivities and Legacy Gift. The cups are in and we will debut them at carnival this Sunday! They are a matte black color, chosen by the students, with an orange Hill design. Be sure to find our table and pick some up for yourself. This is also the only day they can be purchased tax free. They will be sold for $17 each, or if you purchase 2 or more, for $15 each. Earlier this week we met with the children and explained the process for selling the tumblers but want to make you all aware as well. Details are as follows: * Students are asked to sell 2-5 tumblers each. * An order form went home in the Wednesday folder and is attached below. The attached version has been updated to include a place for sales tax. * Sales may begin on Sunday, October 28th. * On Sunday, October 28th all sales are tax free. * Tumblers are $17 each or 2 or more for $15 dollars each. * After October 28th, sales tax (8.25%) must be added to the total purchase amount. * If unable to sell tumblers, we kindly ask that you make a minimum donation of $35 to Hill PTA to go towards the 5th grade expenses. * Students may accept cash or checks made out to Hill PTA. * Please have an adult accompany the child if selling door to door. * Adults are asked to keep the money until the time of collection. * The first collection will take place on the afternoon of November 8th in the Commons. At that time, the students will receive the necessary tumblers for distribution. * Additional collections will be scheduled at a later date. As an incentive, the student who sells the most tumblers will receive a pizza party for them self and 3 friends on the playground after school! Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. Thank you in advance, Mary Haines and Megan Smith Hi all, happy Friday! We made it to the end of the first nine-weeks. Report cards will go home some time next week, so stay tuned. In the meantime, you can check your child's grades online here.

Thanks for reading, and for your flexibility this week! Have a great weekend! ~5th Grade Team We generally try to keep things brief, but this update is quite extensive (report cards, Dillo Quest, conferences, middle school updates....)! We appreciate you reading carefully and taking note of important information. This is a very busy time of year for us all!
We enjoyed meeting with so many of you during Parent-Teacher conferences this week (some are planned for this Saturday). Thank you for partnering with us to ensure a successful 5th grade year for your child! Report cards will be finalized on Monday, so TOMORROW is the deadline to submit all corrections and make-up work! 5th grade is challenging, and many students find they have to work much harder to maintain their grades from previous years. This is normal! The growing-pains of 5th grade usually lead to a successful and smooth transition to middle school. We're in this together! To check your child's grades online, please follow these directions. Homework -- we all have a love/hate relationship with it -- but it's important! Please encourage thoughtful completion each week. We give class time, provide optional Study Hall, and support in many other ways. We are being extra particular about showing work, and having all pieces of every assignment neatly attached and together at the time of submission. We appreciate your support! Dillo Quest is NEXT WEEK -- Thursday and Friday, October 18-19! We will host a packing info. session (kids only) next Monday before recess. Check out the downloads tab of the 5th grade website for extra forms, packing lists, etc. We need all forms and the $85 payment submitted ASAP! Contact [email protected] if you need financial assistance. Additional info. below....

It also includes the grading rubrics and FAQs. Take a look at the packet with your child and discuss how to plan and work on time management.
